Mrs. Emma Brooks--Emma Keeler, born in Carlton, Orleans Co., N.Y., Aug. 23, 1857, died at her
home in Carlton, Michigan Jan. 17, 1904, aged 49 yrs., 5 mo. & 25 days. She
had been ill for a long time of complication of diseases.
She was married to Charles Brooks on October 23, 1878. To them were born three children, two
daughters, Mrs. Harry Stowell of Coats Grove; Mrs. E. J. Dubois of Hastings, and one son
Nelson, also of Hastings. Beside the husband and children she leaves a father, one sister, two
brothers, two grand children and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. She was a
charter member of the Carlton Center Ladies Aid Society and has always done
much to promote its welfare. Her pleasant and cheerful face will be long remembered
and missed in both the society and community.
Funeral services were held Sunday at her late home one-half mile south of Carlton
Center. Rev. Duffey of Freeport officiating. Burial took place in Fuller cemetery.
